Senior high school students bond with senior citizens by Claudette Celoso

Before the school year ended, the Grade 11 senior high school students had their Social Action Program (SAP) at Anawim Lay Missions Foundation Incorporated back on March 20.

According to foundation’s website, Anawim is a small facility for poor and abandoned elderly people founded by Catholic lay preacher Bo Sanchez in Rizal Province, Philippines.

Each elderly individual available for the program was paired with a student partner.

To ease the tension, an ice breaker activity was spearheaded by the Membership Welfare Committee. Students had the chance to interact with their respective partners when they played Pinoy Henyo together, and enjoyed the singing session afterwards.

Following that, the participants and the senior high school students shared a simple meal during the agape.

Further, a representative of the elderly thanked the students for being with them and bringing them delight on the said day. She also reminded the Lourdesians to always love their parents and show this through their words and actions.

To cap off and make sense of this one of a kind experience , SAP coordinator Mr. Carlo Dela Cruz conducted the processing of the activity.
